DESIGNING 3D-PRINTED MODELS FOR PATIENTS INTERESTED IN OSSEOINTEGRATION (OI)
The video on the left depicts concepts for the two models. Two 3D-printed models were created during this thesis to visually depict a transfemorally amputated limb. The first model depicts the limb after Stage 1 of OI surgery, in which a fixture and healing component are surgically inserted into the femur. The second model represents Stage 2 of OI. During this stage, an abutment is inserted, which serves as the connection between a limb and an external prosthesis. Additional prosthesis components were printed to attach the abutment, via magnets.
